I HAVE A JOB.

It is working with the Dean of Graduate studies at CUNY Brooklyn College to come up with some promotional material to get grad students to go to Brooklyn College over other CUNYs. It involves talking to faculty and current grad students to see what they like about Brooklyn and putting together brochures and stuff like that. Seems pretty interesting and definitely the most independent job I've had.

Plus it's paying a LOT more than CPI did. Hee. Maybe I'll be able to afford the new iPhone that got announced today :3

My personality type: the spontaneous idealist. Take the free iPersonic personality test!

I am a spontaneous idealist! I think that sounds about right.

Now to finish cleaning the house before I go to reunion..

In my attempt to develop a somewhat more professional presence on the web than Livejournal and Facebook, I have been brainstorming domain names. What do you think of sioux-rose.net?

Explanation: Lauren's nickname for me, Suzanne Rozier -> Sue Rose -> Sioux Rose. I like it and it's available, but my reservation is that it's very.... Native American sounding. Any other suggestions are appreciated!

Yay Obama!

I had an interview for an internship yesterday. The woman was crazy. I didn't learn a lot about the job, other than it would be posting things online for this film, possibly on Myspace? I dunno. It's also unpaid which I didn't realize. I'm going back on Thursday and if it's too much of a time commitment I'm not going to do it. I'm definitely working at CPI for a couple weeks, so I can earn at least $1000 this summer, and I also submitted an application to work at the Urban Outfitters across the street. 2 minute commute + employee discounts, yay!

Today I am planning to finish up the first Metal Gear Solid, after which I will play MGS2 and Ocarina of Time. The former will set me up to play MGS4 this fall on Goran's PS3! YAY. Also Portal. This is the year that I'm discovering video games, and other than Uncharted: Drake's Fortune which is #1 in my book, my favorite series are MGS and Zelda. But I am looking for additional recommendations, just stay away from Final Fantasy and RPGs in general.

I will also be working on a certain special surprise for all of you NSO-ers out there so keep an eye out on the website within the next week or so... I'll give you a hint, it has to do with the recent release of Delicious Library 2.

Other things this summer holds in store: working at Reunion this weekend (yay money), Cape Cod with my favorite person over the 4th of July, Wojie and Caitlin coming to visit in the city, and most importantly Red Sox game at FENWAY in August!! I haven't been there since I was too little to appreciate the sox :3

Back from Maine! It was fun. I'm trying to upload pictures to Facebook as I type this but it's abhorrently slow. We went to Acadia, Goran/Josh/CJ capsized a canoe, we did lots of cooking and cleaning, but most importantly I had some goddamn delicious lobster. I love lobster. I can't wait to go to Cape Cod to have some more.

Here is the reason for my post. To all of the critics and haters of the recent Speed Racer movie, what the fuck is wrong with you. I love this movie beyond anything! Okay maybe not as much as Batman but STILL it's up there! It was the most fun exhilarating thing I have seen EVER. Yeah I saw Iron Man and I loved Iron Man but I would even say I loved Speed Racer more.

I think the stupid people who refuse to see it/like it are making one of several possible mistakes. These include not realizing that it is about 95% beautiful eye candy that deserves to be seen on as big a screen as possible, or not realizing that there are cheesy characters and jokes in it because it's a KID'S MOVIE, or thinking the plot is undeveloped or not complicated enough for you (again because it's a KID'S MOVIE). My point is that it's an awesome inspiring rush of adrenaline that has me still hyped up on it even a week after I saw it and it's making me want to see it again. In IMAX. For another $16.

If you do not enjoy this movie you obviously have no sense of what it's like to be a kid anymore. And I'm sorry for you because it sure feels all kinds of awesome.

Whenever I look for jobs I wish I wasn't in school. It is RIDICULOUS how hard it is to find a job when you can only work there for a specific 3 month time period. Every place wants you to start right away and have a 6 month or so commitment, which I would be fine with if I wasn't, you know, a college student. I feel like that's a little bit counter productive.. aren't I just going to college to get a job anyway? I found a full time production assistant job in Brooklyn that pays $700 a week and that I am fully qualified for. I would fucking LOVE that job if I were graduating this year. Unfortunately I'm not, and I just have to hope there will still be opportunities like that in two years.

blast

Happy birthday to me =D

So I am now 20 and no longer a teenager. I feel old.

Studying for my Psych final which is in 2.5 hours. I don't really care about it.. I hear it's easy and I have a good grade in the class so far.

Then it's dinner at the Beech Tree with Goran =D yay

And then a weekend of packing and studying for my Film final! I don't really want to think about that.. yeah.

I have also been sending my resume to various ads on Craigslist. I really hope one of them replies. That would relieve a LOT of stress. I am kind of bitter about CPI not really telling me they weren't going to hire me again until I asked them and it was already late in the season for applying for summer jobs. It seems like they're going downhill anyway, which sucks. I liked having job security, that was neat.

OH WELL. After Film final I get to go HOME, spend a few days going to the Met's superhero fashion exhibit and SPEED RACER IN IMAX with CJ, then a week in Maine with my favorite people! Who cares about making money over the summer. Yeah..

Why do there have to be finals at 9am. Why can't there be finals at normal times, like 11.

NEVER MIND

My mom: Do you still use your Citibank account? (that I had until I turned 18)
Me: No, I didn't know it still existed.
My mom: Apparently it does.
Me: Well, does it have any money in it?
My mom: $5000.
Me: =O

edit: it's tuition money =(

Ironman was fucking awesome. It also got me really hyped up for Indiana Jones and the Dark Knight. Hee :3

Something really weird though. When I got back about 5 minutes ago, someone had wiped the whiteboard on my door clean, and it looked like they had dumped it in water or something because it was soft (cardboard). Huh? I don't get it. I mean it's harmless but it has me confused more than anything :O

edit: Mads put up this picture of Obama sporting Indy! Hahahaha awesome :D

misery

So, there is a chance that I might not still have my job at CPI when I go home. This induced a somewhat frantic search for a way of making money this summer! Then (very unexpectedly) I found my dream summer job on Craigslist.

It's basically doing camera work, editing, and video archiving for this non-profit org in NYC that is dedicated to promoting non-vehicular transportation in the city. Ok I'm cool with that. The job would mostly be 2 days a week filming in various locations, and 3 days a week in their office in the West Village. The schedule would also usually be Wednesday-Sunday. They would pay me $100 more a week than CPI does, plus buy my monthly MetroCard and lunches in the office.

OMG I want this job.

So I am writing a cover letter and we will see how that goes! Wow, I want this job.

Weekend in the city was lots of fun. Much money was spent on new clothes..

Now I have work to do =( I spent about two hours today transcribing my interview.. and I got through about seven minutes (out of 38). It's mostly because Amy talks so fast in it! And it's hard to hear some parts. Plus I have a film paper due on Friday that I haven't started, and a Comp revision for Wednesday. BLEH.

After next Monday, stress will be gone! I will still have work but at least there won't be classes and it will just be finals.

edit: IT'S OKAY! I emailed Steerman and he said it's all a big mistake and the time is back to normal =D YAY!!! End needless panicking :3

AHHHH WHAT THE FUCK.

Schedules went up and I checked them and I'm registered for everything I wanted. YAY RIGHT? NO!!!!

Dramatic Writing changed times!!!! Instead of 1-3pm, it's 4-6pm!!!! WHAT THE FUCK. Now it conflicts with Filmmaking!! I can't take the other section of Filmmaking because that conflicts with Japanese. I can't take the other section of Dramatic Writing because that ALSO conflicts with Japanese. THERE IS NO OTHER SECTION OF JAPANESE.

I CAN'T DOUBLE MAJOR IN FILM AND JAPANESE. WHAT THE FUCK VASSAR.

Comic Con was okay but I am sure glad as hell that is over. Highlights were getting the first volume of Planetes for $6 and the first 4 episodes of Yawara! for free. Surprisingly I think I like the former more than the latter. The worst thing that happened was me losing my makeup bag, which had about $80 worth of makeup and $40+ worth of jewelry in it. I don't wear either one very often but still, what the fuck.

I cannot wait the fuck for this semester to be over. I'm sick of doing work, I'm sick of certain people, I'm sick of Vassar food making my stomach feel like crap all the fucking time. I just want to be at home in the city in the summer.

It is SO NICE OUTSIDE. We filmed the Samurai movie part of our Sakura Matsuri film, which I think will be good (and I'll be happy when it's over and I can get back to being lazy). Also I am so excited for various things including going to Maine, the summer!! next year's SUITE and my classes which will be the best. Here is my official schedule:

Monday: nothing
Tuesday: 12-1:15 Japanese, 1:30-2:45 Japanese Linguistics, 3:10-5:10 Filmmaking
Wednesday: nothing
Thursday: 1-3 Dramatic Writing, 3:10-5:10 Filmmaking
Friday: 12-1:15 Japanese

Plus a meeting with Abe Sensei because I'm doing independent study with her! Which will involve going to Linguistics once a week (Tuesdays), meeting with her and doing a separate project. YAY FUN.

Now I have to go get ready so I can do Film League and then Masquerave!
